Hailed as the Prince of the Saxophone, acclaimed saxophonist, Andrew Young, and his band will perform once again at the Guild Theatre on Friday 16 March 2018.
The show is an eclectic mix of blues and rock ‘n roll, including Andrew’s unique performances of Watermelon Man, Georgia and Baker Street which have become the most requested songs of his repertoire.
Born in Liverpool, England and now residing in Vienna, Austria, Andrew performs across the globe to audiences as far afield as China and the Far East, Africa, The Caribbean and South America, and Europe.
Sharing the stage with South African artists like Joseph Shabalala of Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Jonathan Butler, as well as international stars like Shakatak, Shirley Bassey, Dionne Warwick, Matt Bianco and Precious Wilson Band, Andrew has captivated audiences with his melodic sounds.
Andrew’s special guest in this Show is Rock Hall Of Fame and guitar legend Jethro Butow.
Jethro, born in Port Elizabeth but grew up in East London, is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest guitarists. – he has played on more SA albums than can be found in the average South African household!
His accolades are too many to mention, he is the official guitarist for the Idols band, has played for Luciano Pavarotti, Cliff Richard, The 3 Tenors, Il Divo and performed with bands including Kariba, Steve Linnegar`s Snakeshed, Lesley Rae Dowling, Little Sister and John Ireland, to name a few.
Jethro brings total professionalism to any show, years of honing his craft as a guitarist, thunderous rock riffs and heavenly solos. His passion is 60/70’s rock music in a live format and judging by the thousands of young guitarists who still try to emulate him, he remains a role model and mentor to many.
